was a new-music group at Yale which created works on the spectrum from through-composition to pure improvisation. Our work drew from rock, jazz, and electronic music, as well as visual art and film, and our live productions often involved organic collaborations across media. We were dedicated to nurturing community, collaboration, and transgression in the arts at Yale.
I founded Black is the Color with Dominic Coles in our freshman dorm. We were later joined by Eli Brown, Hans Bilger, and Adrian Lin. We devised, composed, and produced shows full of original music through our final year of college, often accompanied by friends and collaborators, including musicians, visual artists, theater makers, designers, and recordists.
